At Great Beginnings Day Care Center, we know your family's trust matters. This policy explains what information we collect at the center and through this website, how we use it, who helps us handle it, and how we keep it safe.
When you enroll, we collect the information needed to care for your child: your child's name, age, and enrollment details, emergency contacts, authorized pickups, medical and allergy information, and parent or guardian contact details.
The contact form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number, and your message. The tour request form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone number, your child's age, a preferred date, and optional notes. When you submit a form, we email your details to our staff so we can reply, and we may send a short confirmation to the email address you gave. Please don't include health or other sensitive details in a message; we're happy to discuss them in person.
We use enrollment information to care for your child, keep you informed about your child's day, keep children safe, and meet Illinois child care licensing requirements. We use what you send through the website only to answer your question or arrange your tour. We never use it for advertising.
To keep out spam and automated abuse, our forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a real person is using them. To do this, Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic information about your browser and device. When you submit a form, our server also uses your IP address to limit how many submissions can come from one connection in a short time. That temporary counter is stored with our provider Upstash and deletes itself automatically within a few minutes.
This website is hosted by Vercel. Like any web server, Vercel's servers keep technical request logs, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. These logs are used for security and troubleshooting and are kept only for a limited time. We also use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count page visits and measure how quickly pages load. These tools do not use cookies and do not track you across other websites; we see only aggregated statistics.
Our map does not load until you choose to show it. Once you do, the map is served by Google, which receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under Google's privacy policy. The “Get directions” link opens Google Maps directly. The Google reviews on our site are retrieved by our own server, and reviewers' photos are delivered through our website, so simply viewing the reviews does not connect your browser to Google.
We use no advertising or tracking cookies. Our site sets one small functional cookie, NEXT_LOCALE, which remembers the language you are browsing in and expires when your browser session ends. If you pick a color theme, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device and is never sent to us. The third-party services described above, such as the Google map once loaded and Cloudflare Turnstile, follow their own cookie policies.
We store family records securely, whether on paper or digitally, and protect them from unauthorized access. Only staff members who need information to care for your child are allowed to see it. This website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
We never sell your family's information. We share it only with service providers that help us run this website and deliver its messages and that handle it on our behalf (Vercel for hosting, Resend and our email provider for email, Cloudflare for spam protection, and Upstash for rate limiting); with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) for licensing; with medical responders during an emergency; or when the law requires us to do so.
We handle children's records with extra care and treat them as confidential. This website is meant for parents and guardians: our forms ask only for a child's age, never a child's name. We never market or advertise to children.
You may review your family's records, including anything you sent us through this website, ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate, or request that we delete records we are no longer required to keep. Just contact the center and we will be glad to help.
We keep enrollment records only as long as needed to care for your child or as Illinois law requires, and then securely destroy them. Messages and tour requests from the website stay in our email only as long as we need them to reply and follow up. Our email delivery provider keeps delivery records for a limited time under its own policy, spam-protection counters delete themselves within minutes, and hosting logs are kept only briefly.
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
